The Brew Crew Needs You!

The Rails & Ales Festival is the largest craft beer event in West Virginia and owes its success to our dedicated Brew Crew Volunteers.  This year, we are expanding to two sessions – an afternoon and an evening session – to accommodate over 8,000 attendees. In order to make this event a success, we need more volunteers than ever!

We have two different Brew Crew Volunteer programs: Non-Profit Volunteers and Individual Volunteers.

Non-Profit Volunteers

In order to recruit committed volunteers, and as a way to give back to the community that we love, the festival organizers will donate to your non-profit organization in exchange for volunteering as a Brew Crew Member!

Here’s what you need to know:

  • The festival date is Saturday, August 12, 2017
  • Shift #1 runs from 10 am to 4 pm
  • Shift #2 run from 4 pm to 10 pm
  • For each team of 6 members that completes their 6 hour shift, we will donate $500 to your non-profit. All volunteers must complete their entire shift and all non-profits must have 501c(3) status to participate.
  • Each team must have 6 members, with one member serving as a team captain. Your organization may have as many teams as you can assemble! Team captains will serve as the point of contact for their teams.
  • All volunteers must be 21 years of age or older. No exceptions.
  • All volunteers will be provided a break, a meal and a “Brew Crew” t-shirt to wear while working the festival.
  • Volunteering at the Rails & Ales Festival is a blast but is physical work. Volunteers must be physically able to stand for the majority of their shift and to work in hot or inclement weather. Please take this into consideration when selecting team members. If you are not able to stand on your feet, in the August heat all day, this event may not be for you
  • Training will be provided to volunteers prior to the festival and on the day of the festival.
  • We reserve the right to decline teams.
  • Please submit a copy of your 501c(3) status to railsandalesvolunteers@gmail.com
  • All questions regarding volunteers should be sent to railsandalesvolunteers@gmail.com
  • If you have already submitted a team and need to make changes, please email those changes to railsandalesvolunteers@gmail.com. Please do not resubmit your team.

Individual Volunteers

If you aren’t affiliated with a non-profit but still want to volunteer, for all or part of a session, we would love to have you! Click the link and submit the required information, and our volunteer coordinator will touch base with you.

  • The festival date is Saturday, August 12, 2017 and takes place in two sessions: 11 am to 4 pm and 6 pm-10 pm. We need volunteers for both sessions.
  • If you give us three hours of your time, you are free to enjoy the last few hours of the session. There are two shifts available for individual volunteers: 10 am to 1:30 pm and 5 pm to 8 pm. You are free to volunteer for longer than these allotted times (in fact, we would love it!) but three hours is the minimum.
  • All volunteers must be 21 years of age or older. No exceptions.
  • You will be provided with a “Brew Crew” t-shirt to wear while working the festival.
