WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING VOLUNTEER APPLICATIONS.

The Brew Crew Needs You!

The Rails & Ales Festival is the largest craft beer event in West Virginia and owes its success to our dedicated Brew Crew Volunteers.  This year, we are expanding to two sessions – an afternoon and an evening session – to accommodate an amazing experience. In order to make this event a success, we need more volunteers than ever!

We have two different Brew Crew Volunteer programs: COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION Volunteers and Individual Volunteers.

Community Volunteers

In order to recruit committed volunteers, and as a way to give back to the community that we love, the festival organizers will donate to your COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION in exchange for volunteering as a Brew Crew Member!

Here’s what you need to know:

  • The festival date is Saturday, August 12, 2017
  • Shift #1 runs from 10 am to 4 pm
  • Shift #2 run from 4 pm to 10 pm
  • For each team of 6 members that completes their 6 hour shift, we will donate $500 to your organization. All volunteers must complete their entire shift.
  • Each team must have 6 members, with one member serving as a team captain. Your organization may have as many teams as you can assemble! Team captains will serve as the point of contact for their teams.
  • All volunteers must be 21 years of age or older. No exceptions.
  • All volunteers will be provided a break, a meal and a “Brew Crew” t-shirt to wear while working the festival.
  • Volunteering at the Rails & Ales Festival is a blast but is physical work. Volunteers must be physically able to stand for the majority of their shift and to work in hot or inclement weather. Please take this into consideration when selecting team members. If you are not able to stand on your feet, in the August heat all day, this event may not be for you
  • Training will be provided to volunteers prior to the festival and on the day of the festival.
  • We reserve the right to decline teams.
  • Please submit a copy of your tax status documentation (if you are a non-profit) to [email protected]
  • All questions regarding volunteers should be sent to [email protected]
  • If you have already submitted a team and need to make changes, please email those changes to [email protected]. Please do not resubmit your team.
  • Applications must be submitted by July 29, 2017.

Individual Volunteers

If you aren’t affiliated with a community organization but still want to volunteer, for all or part of a session, we would love to have you! Click the link and submit the required information, and our volunteer coordinator will touch base with you.

  • The festival date is Saturday, August 12, 2017 and takes place in two sessions: 11 am to 4 pm and 6 pm-10 pm.
  • If you give us three hours of your time, you are free to enjoy the last few hours of the session. You are free to volunteer for longer than these allotted times (in fact, we would love it!) but three hours is the minimum.
    • First Shift: 10am-1:30pm
    • Second Shift: 5pm-8pm
  • All volunteers must be 21 years of age or older. No exceptions.
  • You will be provided with a “Brew Crew” t-shirt to wear while working the festival.
  • Volunteering at the Rails & Ales Festival is a blast but is physical work. Volunteers must be able to stand for the majority of their shift and to work in hot or inclement weather.
  • Training will be provided to volunteers prior to the festival and on the day of the festival.
  • We reserve the right to decline volunteers.
